When a change is made to a summary either directly or under the bid summary, those changes currently propagate wherever that summary is. There should be an option to prevent this. For example, if I have a bid summary created based on a 65% set of drawings and want to show cost impacts of a quantity increase in receptacles, I can copy that bid summary to a new line, rename it, then adjust some quantities under the summary. As the system currently is, the changes made will propagate to the original bid summary and summary and alter the historical record of what the budget was based on. The system forces the user to create an additional summary that isn’t needed which takes additional time and uses a summary space. Another example of the usefulness of this feature is in created a schedule of values. A bid summary can be copied, and all the non-rough in items removed under the summary. This quickly gives a rough in cost for your SOV. Under the current functionality, if this is saved on purpose or accidentally, the historical record of your bid is altered.
