Collaborate with Viewpoint and your peers by providing us with your input
We have several unit cost contracts where the owners allow us to bill for stored material in order to meet our N30 terms with our vendors. Since we have no way to record the stored material billing, we have to overbill on a certain line item then remember to deduct what was used each month. I have had to create Excel spreadsheets in order to track what I'm billing from month to month. I also have to use an Excel format form for the actual invoice, because the owner wants to see the work complete and stored material broken out.
It is also almost next to impossible to get the subcontractors' invoices to come out correctly. If I enter a flat dollar amount with a quantity of "1" on a "lump sum" line item, ProContract assumes invoicing is complete on that line item. But if I try to enter quantities I end up with penny rounding differences. Again, however I enter it I have to keep actual track on an Excel spreadsheet.
Progress billing is not nearly as complicated, but it would still make life way easier to have a stored materials field there, too. Again, a separate Excel format form has to be used in order to show separately the work complete and amount of stored material.

I would absolutely love this option. Stored materials is a pain in the butt in the Units format.
