Collaborate with Viewpoint and your peers by providing us with your input
Every time we upgrade ProContractor to a new revision or service pack, every PC gets an error on "Menu Pad" every time it reboots. A vendor's software should be better behaved than this. I had a script to remove it from the ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder on user PCs, but I needed to run the script multiple times since users may update over a period of a few days depending on how often they use ProContractor. This has been on on going issue for 5 years.
In the absence of Viewpoint correcting this misbehavior, I just created a Q&D Windows domain policy to block it permanently across our network as follows;
1. Open Group Policy Management on Domain Controller.
2. Go to domain.
3. Go to Default Domain Policy, right click and Edit.
4. Go to Computer Config > Policies > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Software Restriction Policies > Additional Rules.
5. Right-click Additional Rules, select New Path Rule.
6. Enter Path: "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp\MenuPad.lnk", set to Disallowed.
7. Click OK, and close the GPM Editor.
