Employee Tax screen should default allowances based on new W-4

The knowledge base article for the new W-4 states that W-4 not checked, allowances should be 1, checked should be 0. Yet the system defaults to 1 for both selections.

  At minimum, the following should be done in ProContractor:

  1. Add note to Taxes tab under Allowances field stating - "NOTE - If using 2020 W4 and newer, enter a 0 for Checked withholding statuses or enter 1 for Not Checked wihholding statuses in the "Allowances" field". This way so customers and support does not have to keep referring to the article and it is more obvious to add something here since development utilized this existing field even though there are not allowances on 2020 W4

  2. Add info from #1 to the Help menu

  
  

  However, there is still room for improvement. Since the Withholding statuses are stock, it could be an option that when selecting them that this field is auto-populated and the check box for 2020 W4 and newer is check marked
