It is becoming more common for Employers to pay bereavement as per state requirements. In addition, some states require Sick Pay. Currently there is not a way for Users to add their own Earnings types. For some Workers Compensation policies, sick is NOT subject to WC reporting BUT Bereavement is.
However, Bereavement cannot use the Regular, OT, DT earnings types since it is subject to Overtime rules. Users would have to either check mark the OT Exempt box to not pay OT on Bereavement, setup a Pay Class with a different earnings type and remove the PTO code if they have Sick or Vacation pay. Alternatively they could set Bereavement up with the Earnings types Vacation but that could be considered insensitive. Also, this is problematic with how to system would reduce either their Vacation or Sick balances if the PTO code is not removed or there are more than one PTO code with the same earnings type assigned in the Employee profile
Please add a Bereavement Earnings type to the following areas: Pay Class, Paid Time Off Code, Payroll Tax Authority
