The journal entry memo line has lots of space to type in a memo describing the reason behind the journal entry. The line item descriptions are limited so it is difficult to give a clear explanation as to why the aje was required. I often type more detail in the memo but have no way to access that information without creating a custom report.

This is truly necessary. What's the point of having a memo field if it can never, ever be seen again? Not in a report, not in a look up.... I tried to add it via modify forms and it's on even in the available list.
In American Contractor we could choose to print reports showing the memos. This needs to be added to PCMX!
