I am sure I am not the only one who was told that we WOULDN'T BE LOSING ANYTHING FROM AMERICAN CONTRACTOR
if we migrated to Pro Contractor. Only get more reporting flexibility. this was really a bunch of bull. In almost every module, we have lost capabilities too many to mention. Causes a lot of extra work, leaves margin for errors, and wastes a lot of paper in the reports.
I can only choose one category for this idea, but it applies to all, with payroll being the most important

Agreed.
This request is so all-encompassing that to get there, we need to continue to state specific issues and requests so that the managing team for development can digest it IMO.
The problem for many of us is:
1. PC does not have many of the features or reports that we were used to from our old systems.
2. The developers have most obviously concentrated more on their estimating program than accounting or project management. I think the ratio of planned or shipped issues now is about 30:1!
3. The user interface is not user-friendly at all. Screen fonts too small, inconsistent layouts in modules, no record selectors, no EFFECTIVE drill down, no budget vs. actual costs on project detail reports, AIA credit posting issues, no invoice voiding (compared to adjusting), no printable 4 part W2's, no simple way to enter budget cost codes along with billing codes (they are on 2 separate screens), no vendor, customer, and employee lists, compliance fields in vendor setup are not available for modified vendor reports, currently some actual report errors with change orders on the Cost and Billing Detail Report, no user-defined auto fill, user-defined fields stored at the back end of the setups instead of where they belong in the separate screens, and audit feature to have the system tell us when our GL is not perfectly in balance with job costs, and much more.
Obviously, as stated by multiple users on the is forum, PC was not written with the daily accounting user in mind. Just comparing it to American Contractor or Sage 100 Contractor makes this very apparent.
Going forward, the emphasis has to be to get features into this program ASAP that will help us and not take 1-2 years to implement just a handful of changes. Something has to change in the priorities Viewpoint is making in this regard. They must have a ton of converts from the old programs and this situation will only get worse if they don't respond quickly and efficiently to many of the most voted on suggestions here in the forum.
That's my assessment alone.
i agree. We used Management Suite and were promised the moon. There were many things about Management Suite we didn't like, but the things that were good, drill down on reports, better printing reports, ability to print vendor lists, employee lists, etc were lost in this program. They need to take the best of Management Suite and American Contractor in put it into to PC.
