We use 4 digit project numbers and we are running out of numbers, in AC we used to be able to delete jobs that were at least 5 years old and now we cant. Adding a dash after the 4 digit number to add the year when the project was open will allow us to continue using our 4 digit projects for the field and PMs but internally identify them with the year. I'm selecting the 1 month deadline but to be honest the sooner the better, I'm in urgent need of this enhancement.

That is a good suggestion. The project number allows for 8 characters. Adding 2 additional characters to include the year to the front of your current 4 digit number provides the additional information. Although certain characters are not permitted, if you would like a separator, you could use an underscore (17_0001) or a space (17 0001).
Your request may not happen for some time or not at all.
You should consider changing to a 5 digit job number scheme. The first two digits on the left should be the year. Example: 17001 would be the first job in 2017. I have been using this system for years and it works great.
