Recently the equipment usage was missed during payroll entry and since the pay checks were already printed, PC would not allow the entering of Equipment Usage on the grid available for that purpose. When I inquired about an alternate way to enter usage, I was told that one could post equipment costs through a Journal Entry. When I reviewed that process, it looked to me as if one could not enter the usage hours but only the dollar cost which would entail looking up the rate for each piece of equipment and calculating the cost manually. This also would not keep the actual hours used accurate. I would think the process of entering Equipment usage on the same grid used during payroll time card entries should be available outside of payroll to give us users more flexibility in the process.

You can currently do this in the system. You will need to create a pay cycle but then you don't have to enter any employee time cards. All you need to do is go into Enter Equipment Usage Time Cards function. This will allow you to enter usage time against a project. It does not allow you to enter the employee who was operating the equipment but you could do a comment in the posting description.
