Issue:
Currently Workers' Comp calculates based on time card lines and rounds per line. Over the course of the month, quarter or annually, the amount tracked by Pro Contractor will not match the values generated by the Workers' Comp agency. Viewpoint has acknowledged this issue, but will not fix it. Here is the correspondence I have had with them:
Viewpoint Case No. 1269750: How does system calculate worker's comp?
We have determined that the difference is due to rounding. The calculations in ProContractor payroll are handled by time card lines not by the total of the week (or months) earnings. Therefore, the more time card lines that you have the higher the likelihood of a variance between the amounts based on "total earnings" and "time card line earnings". This same thing will occur with payroll taxes and sales tax calculations.
Actually what this means is that the system is "operating as designed". Therefore, if you would like to suggest a modification to the software, I would encourage you to enter that suggestion in the "Suggestion Box" on Clearview. If you would like to discuss this, please let me know by replying to this email or returning my call at the number listed below and entering extension 1499. Request:
Pro Contractor needs to either fix their current report to calculate based on cumulative Workers' Comp wages within the selected time period or create a separate report that calculates based on cumulative Workers' Comp wages for a specified period, including year and either monthly (option to select the month), quarterly (option to select the quarter) or annually (optio to select the year).
