When entering a journal entry, often times a single debit and credit offset each other. For instance, when recording bank fees, you must select the expense account for the fees, and then create a separate credit line for the cash account. My suggestion would be to create a field for an offsetting entry. One line, where you enter the debit or credit, and then a field in which you would select the offsetting account. (whether it be straight GL or project related)
The example I gave is of the most simple bank fees and cash. However, we have MULTIPLE job entries that we make which could be offset easily, as opposed to creating a new line. Having the offsetting ability would increase productivity and reduce duplication of work.
