Invoice dates, due dates, and posting dates can now be posted with dates way into the future affecting future periods, in fact, the invoices can even be PAID somehow. It is such an easy mistake to make and terribly hard to correct. It would save a lot of time and headaches if the system would alert us that we are not within a certain time period. We switched from Foundation in 2016 and even they had date parameters that if you tried to enter something outside of the settings required a password. A very very simple fix! Come on ProContractor! Get with it!

There is a setting - Posting Date Warning Settings, in System Settings (Administration > Setup) to set a number of days past or future. This will provide a warning message throughout the system if a transactions is entered either before or after this time line. A standard that seems to be used is 30 days. There is also the closed fiscal period password that can prevent entries from been posted back to a previous accounting period.

The Posting Date Warning is a small "White Balloon" (non-critical) message in the margin that does not slow down our busy AP clerks long enough to recognize the problem and understand the impact of their typo. IMHO, the future-posting of any transaction outside your specified accounting period window should be a red-flag warning and require a password to get past it.
