Sometimes, like at year end, we have to split our payroll costs in the middle of the pay period. For example, our fiscal year ends November 30th. We need to accrue a complete payroll for days worked in November separately from the days worked in December including payroll taxes and union deductions and fringes.

At this time, the best way to perform this task would be to create two Pay Cycles using different Posting Groups. However, you would have to manually enter any Overtime hours on the second Pay Cycle. Creating a separate Pay Cycle would also itemize the tax amounts on the Posting Journal. Alternatively, the Payroll Settings field "Determine Posting Date Effective By" can be changed to Date Worked instead of Check Date but we do not recommend making this change mid-year, only at Year end.
