Allow Project File Naming structure to Exceed 15 characters or whatever the extremely short limit currently is.

One of the reasons we purchased ProContractor for estimating was to store all of our estimates in one place in an intelligent way.

That means being able to set up main folders and sub folder arranged by business category and type of project, so that if I'm estimating a hotel for example, then all of the hotel estimates we have previously done are stored together.  This allows me to quickly see previous projects I might want to use as a template.

With the current character limitation this is impossible to do without lots of abbreviations that no one understands or remembers.

    Mike,

    Thanks for the quick response.

    The problem I am having is not with the ability to create folders and sub-folders. The problem is with the limit on the length of the file structure, file name path string. ProContractor limits the number of characters allowed in that string. I’m not sure what exactly the limit is, but it is way too short. I don’t understand why there is a limit at all. Haven’t seen that since the MS DOS days.

    As an example, below is part of our current directory in ProContractor;

    [cid:image001.png@01D0E0A6.5690FD80]

    Here is the way I would like for it to look……

    [cid:image002.png@01D0E0A7.2DD49090]

    So you can see that we have had to abbreviate folder names and project names to try and stay within the character limit. This makes it very difficult to follow.

    Hopefully this better describes what my problem is. If not, let me know or call me to discuss. I would very much appreciate your effort on getting this fixed.

    Thanks.

    Hello Ed,

    You currently have the ability to create Folder structures in PC Estimating. When naming your file, simply use \ after any part of the description to create as many folder levels as you see fit.  For example 2015\Hospitals, 2015\August\Hospitals.

    I have also attached a file for you take a look at it. Please let me know if this what you were looking for.
