When I snap to an area (in area tab) I never know which way the selections is going to go when I drag the selected points. So I am always going one way and then reversing because it's the wrong direction. It would be nice if on the point that I snapped to, an arrow would show me the direction that the path would take if i dragged downward on the points. It would save time, confusion, and the frustration of always dragging the mouse up and down to figure out which way I need to go.

Of course it would be much easier if the window popped up off to the side of the screen instead of directly over the object that you are trying to snap to (like the original earthwork program)
