If you change a billing code after contract invoice has been posted (even if that particular billing code has not been invoiced), PCMX creates a duplicate billing code, one with the actuals and one with the contract amount. The two codes billing codes then appear on the printed invoice each with part of the information.

While we've been told never to change a billing code, users make mistakes and the fact the billing code has to be assigned on the CMR, which can be approved in any order, we end up with billing codes in an unpredictable order (according to our numbering convention) on the invoice despite our best efforts to avoid gaps, etc. The billing sort code helps a little, but doesn't apply to CMRs (so why is it even shown on these?) which represent the majority of our billing codes.

PCMX allows you to change billing codes without even a warning, and almost does the job correctly, but not quite.  Fixing the fallout from changing a billing code requires a charged development task with an undermined completion date.

Viewpoint should fix this serious design flaw, by either blocking billing code (and cost code) updates entirely, or preferably, by allowing changes and doing the job properly.  The current data corruption that cannot be corrected by the user, is not acceptable.
