Collaborate with Viewpoint and your peers by providing us with your input
Being a generic software product, PCMX does not allow any means for custom data editing/validation on major data entities. For example, more sophisticated organizations might have very specific coding structures/conventions for major data entities (project numbers, cost codes, billing codes, etc) that cannot be enforced through standard configuration options.
Viewpoint should consider providing optional user code extensions for inserting/updating critical data, so that custom edits can be easily applied. These could be implemented as calls to stubbed off stored procedures that could be customized to perform specific data validations that are beyond the scope and constraints of the standard configuration options, issue warnings or hard errors and allow or deny the insert/update.
The custom edit/validation code would be added as T-SQL code to the stubbed stored procedure either by Viewpoint during the initial implementation or by any SQL savvy developer afterwards to meet the organization's data validation requirements more closely.
