Or give the ability to select a timeout of never. I log in on Monday and won't log out until my computer update Windows. I do not want to have to log in over and over.
Yes, the license monitor works fine, but there needs to be an automated process to prevent idle sessions. This is a standard security feature in most software suites.
The license monitor app is great and helps with terminating connections before updating to next version.
I found using the license monitor app, you can see who is in and who you need to kick out.
We introduced in the 3.5 release in Fall of 2015 an ability to kick out users remotely from the server. This doesn't do it automatically but can get you out of a pinch when needed. In our released version, there is a notification to the person that is about to be kicked out, in case they want to save any work.
We found a significant resistance to "timing out" users, in the event that they were working on a large estimate, budget, invoice, etc, and they didn't want to get kicked out and lose any unsaved changes, have something save when they weren't ready, and more concerns.
This addition should provide you with the ability to at least clear out seats when needed or remove users to perform maintenance, and if we need to consider auto kickout options in the future we can revisit it.
Or even give the ability to select a "timeout" 20 min 40 min etc
