Too much wasted space on reports!

I have noticed that many reports have a lot of space between detail rows. This makes the report nice and easy to read but it wastes paper and means you have to scroll through more pages to see it all.

When working with large projects with 70-80 pages of job cost detail, when converting to PCMX, it is going to be much greater than that just because of the way the reports are designed by default.

I would like to see a more efficient use of report space and of course, without making the reports hard to read. Currently, PCMX has lots of room to play with.

Agree on all points! In American Contractor, the Job Cost Detail & Billing Report is produced in readable fonts and compared to PC, it is much more efficiently designed so that it has many less pages. There is no reason that PC cannot provide us with better reporting in all the modules. It will take someone who knows what kind of reports were available in other software programs to see how PC's reports could be improved on.

Because of PC's reports that we get now, much paper is wasted which is not green. I am hoping that the development team really works on this issue.

Bob,  you are 100% correct.  Even exporting a Trial Balance has merged fields, that for the life of me I can't see any reason for.  It they didn't repeat so much info, you  could print a lot of the reports in portrait rather than landscape mode.  That would save a lot of time as well.  It seems to me that there is a lot that wasn't done in the best efforts of the accounting people who use the software. in terms of easy of use, ease of reading, etc.

What I have noticed is that the fields that would normally be headers of columns are reprinted for every record. That, too, takes up so much report real estate. If the reports were made in a more "table" format, they would not use so many pages and also make so much more sense when exported to Excel. Currently there are so many Excel columns that have multiple fields with different types of data, it takes a long time to get it into a useable table. (off topic?)

I agree, in addition allow the option to print reports in portrait more.  Make the design option similar to Management Suite where the detail was closer together on the report.  The printing feature in PCMX leaves a lot to be desired.  Having to print most of the reports takes up to much paper.

I completely agree.  The formatting on reports should be smaller, more compact to save paper and for easier reviewing.  For one subdivision of 53 SFRs my report is over three hundred pages to manage my costs.

Fonts on many reports are too small as well.
