Needs a lookup feature to find dollar amounts; how and where they are posted!

I find myself spending a lot of time trying to find out where a dollar amount was posted - or even IF it was posted. It would be so nice to have a "General" place to do a lookup rather than the hunt and peck running report after report to search for an amount. If an expense was posted in a wrong cost account, or the wrong cost code or to the wrong vendor, or paid with a wrong account, then a lookup feature that would give the amount with the cost code, cost account, vendor and how it was paid would save a lot of wasted time searching!!

Some clarification to my previous post,  the information displayed is determined by the transaction type field.  If the record is an invoice record, the information will display the expense details - account, project(profit center), cost code, cost type, etc.  If the record is a payment, the information displayed is the payment information (cash account, check number, etc).  If you double click on either an invoice or payment record, you will go into the View Vendor Invoice screen, which will show you all the invoice posting details.

In View Vendor Transactions - it may show you the dollar amount but lacks in telling you all the information you need like where the expenses was posted (sometime things gets posted incorrectly and in trying to correct it, I need to know where it was posted 1st)

Would you most likely know where the dollar amount was posted from - a vendor entry or a customer entry?  There are 2 View functions - View Vendor Transactions and View Customer Transactions that may help you find this information.  I have attached a sample screen using the View Vendor Transaction where I was looking for records where the dollar amount was $225.00.  It found one transaction.  All the details around this transaction are listed on this row (GL Account, project, cost code, cost type, etc) so I can review.  If I double click on the transaction, it will open in View Vendor Invoice to allow me to look at details and also open the actual invoice if I have attached the document.

I could also have set my filter to look for positive and negative numbers to know if this item had been paid or not.

There is a View Financial Activity where I can look for transactions from the general ledger perspective.

The Views can be a powerful tool for finding information.  It may be worth scheduling an hour or two of training if it is something you would like to utilize more.
