Please adjust to use the "4 Up" W2 form in Procontractor. It is so much easier for construction based companies

INMMS we had the option for the 4Up forms and they were not only easier to send out but were easier to use for Trade and insurance audits.   We can put the office info separate and State info separate.

As I found out last year, Aatrix does not integrate seamlessly with ProContractor.

Has procontractor addressed this 4 up W2 suggestion for the 2020 tax year? It would be so much more efficient to print all of the forms for 1 employee on 1 form. Maybe they are just trying to sell us the max amount of form through their portal but I'd pay a premium to only have to print one per employee.

With the 3.14 release, this capability is available within the Aatrix integration within ProContractor. Aatrix is available free of charge to all customers to print out the year end regulatory reports and forms. Aatrix also supports e-filling and printing and mailing year end forms to employees for additional fees. For more information visit: https://partner.aatrix.com/procontractor

Sounds like we will have to just print 1 page at a time. Haha. This will take awhile.

Gayle - The federal government changed the deadline to January 31 a year or two ago because of the epidemic of fraudulent returns being filed, but as you noted, your states require that date anyway.  I fully understand the situation you are facing and I think that it might be worth you looking into how Greenshades works and the price of using it, even though this is not ideal timing.  You would then be able to avoid spending considerable time on all the manual work you would otherwise have to do and risking errors, as you have noted.

I would like to have stood on principle, remain stubborn, continuing to insist on 4up W-2's, and using the 1980's way of doing W-2's that has been forced on us until we got what we wanted, but I just had to give up and go to Greenshades because of the value of saved time and effort.  The Greenshades subscription is an annual one, and you can always not renew.

Greenshades is also helpful to me each quarter in preparing 941's and NJ form WR-30 - an otherwise time consuming list of all employees and their earnings.  Procontractor doesn't do these for us, and of course these are things that any average software package should provide us as well.

I just keep coming back to the same thing - how profoundly disappointed I am about these issues.

This is, by far, the worst accounting system support I have ever worked with.  There is absolutely NO reason why we should be unable to perform our required duties until mid-January.  And what if this "FIX" doesn't FIX the issue?  I always have my 1099's and W-2's out by the second week of January.  Now I cannot even begin to do my work until then.  This is a MAJOR ISSUE, and something that Viewpoint should be working day and night to get corrected by December 31st!!  Whatever it takes!! And the simple fix would be to switch over to 4 UP forms, which is what your users have been requesting for years.  As another user has so eloquently said, I am very sorry we purchased this software.

I agree, what if the fix isn't ready by mid January.  This only gives a very short window to complete and mail by the Government cut off dates.  Federally you get until Feb, but both North & South Carolina require them to be out by January 31, so that means I have about 15 days to complete and make sure that nothing is incorrect, du to printing issues, etc.   This is totally unacceptable!!!!!

Not only that, but they need to give back the ability to export to excel.  North Carolina requires employers to submit electronically, export to excel or manually retype.  Since we can't do electronically unless we use Greenshades (which I refuse to pay extra for) and since you can't export to excel, I am again stuck re-typing stuff.  THE POTENTIAL FOR ERRORS IS EXTREMELY POSSIBLE.  Truly disappointed that Viewpoint doesn't seem to get the point that we need changes NOW not 10 years from now.

My worry is with as long as things take to get done, what if this isn't rectified by mid Jan as promised?

    Profoundly disappointing...………………..again.

Thanks to Justin for restating what we literally have been begging for during the past FIVE YEARS.

We shouldn't have to pay extra to interface with Greenshades to get the 4Up W-2's that we need.  But we have done that because it is the lesser of two evils.

So now we have to wait until mid-January to print W-2's?  All because of Viewpoint's unwillingness to use one of the most basic W-2 forms that has been around for literally 20+ years?  That other products in their portfolio use?  Why on earth are W-2's still printing on formatted stock?  The 1095-B's are blank forms and the format prints from the software so there is Zero chance of alignment problems.  For goodness sake - look at the low hanging fruit!

I'm pretty sure the dragging of feet on this issue is to protect the income stream of the way overpriced W-2's they make us purchase.

I'm with Michael Lerner and Dan Vanderploeg on this.

Definitely a privacy concern and makes sense to make things easier and more efficient. There isn't any reason it needs to stay they way it is now. 2017 was my first year completing payroll completely in house and having to pull out scissors and physically cut W2's apart because 2 employees were listed on the same page, sometimes, was mind blowing to me. There is no way that was thought completely through...

Agreed, if you are only going to give us one option, make it the easier, less paper using, more secure option.

I think that's wishful thinking Gayle.  Unless management has had a major shift in attitude, this issue will remain exactly where it is now - unaddressed with resources being deployed elsewhere.  A while back I was told that clearly by Cindy Whitner.

Michael, you are correct.  I think they delete some of the comments because they are tired of us complaining about the lack of enhancements, the slowness of enhancements, etc.  This is something that really needs to be done before year end 2018, but most likely we will have to wait another year.  So sorry we purchased this software.

  • Michael Lerner commented
    May 16, 2018 12:49

And when you merged other ideas into this one, why did you delete almost all of the comments of others?  Because it reflected badly on the lack of a feature that we used to have and is commonly available with other software?  Nobody processes W-2's on preprinted forms any more unless they are forced to do so.

  • Michael Lerner commented
    May 16, 2018 12:43

If you've never done 4-up W-2's printed on blank perforated forms, you would not believe how efficient and quick the process becomes!  Yet year after year you have continually turned a deaf ear to making this happen even though you have admitted that it is relatively easy to do.  We have been waiting since 2013, and this has been a most painful step backward from Management Suite!  "Likely but not yet planned" is not a satisfactory response.  Nor is your recommended added cost alternative to use the Greenshades interface, which is why I doubt that this will ever make it through development.

This is really a privacy/security issue   when all the parts are on the same sheet NO Chance of miss-collating the forms.  Unfortunately  I had two envelopes that had 3 sheets for Employee  "A"  and one sheet for employee "B"     Please if offering only one format, make it the four up style.
