More clean and concise report formats are badly needed.

There is so much wasted space and redundant text on just about all reports in ProContractor. I don't understand why the field names are repeated for every record. Most reporting styles with which I am familiar have a header that gives all the field names across the top of the report with the corresponding values lined up below them. This makes it much easier to read and find the specific data for which one is looking. Unfortunately, the Modify Reports feature does not make it easy to modify reports so I have had neither the time nor energy to even begin to make these reports more useful.

p.s. The category for this suggestion should be "Program Wide" not "Administration" but, alas, that is not an option.

They want you to pay them to write a report that everyone would benefit from. Columns are nowhere to be found the reports this program produces.

One of the first thing that would be really simple to do would be to give the option to have page breaks after each job.  It is extremely frustrating to have to run a report for a specific job, then go back and change the job number to print the next report.  Granted, some of the reports do break after each job, but all reports need this simple fix.

Of course, that doesn't solve the problem that the reports are TERRIBLE.  The layout wastes to much space, you cannot easily export.  Common Viewpoint, hurry up and get these things done.

I agree Joshua.  I had a very hard time at year end trying to get a report in Excel for our auditor because of the way the rows and columns are.  Something needs to be done.  I had no training in Report Builder and I understand they do not offer training.  It is like sending a child to school for the first time and expecting them to know everything.

Please make the formatting of the reports cleaner.  More just columns and row would be better.  All of these reports have sub rows under a row heading and it takes up too much space and then it also makes it more work when you need to export to excel to modify.

I also have the same issues with reports.  Most of the options are not waht we need for the construction industry or too many pages to print.   There are NO sort features and we actually have to make a project Nonactive to take it off any lists.   The journals are a total waste of paper and too much information.  We don't need AIA line items just the invoice amounts.  We have to develope any type of project listings in another program.   We can't even sort by project date of completion.   A simple project lsiting of maybe name, number contract value is impossible to receive.   We need a billing requisition date listing.   We are spending hours making reports we should just be able to print. When we moved to ProContractor we were told Management Suite was used as a model.   None of the report fetures we used are available.   The move to Procontractor was NOT a good choice for us.

I continue to be amazed at the lack of response on getting reports that we the users need.  It is beyond frustrating.  It seems like every time my boss asks for a report it is something that I have to export to excel, cut and paste data (due to the way the reports are done) and spend hours on something I should be able to just print.  As much as I disliked Management Suite at least you could create custom report simply and have all the information in a format you wanted.

It is frustrating to see that it has taken almost 2 years to get the email checks (due out in next upgrade).  I hate  to think how much longer we will have to wait to get the other things we need.

COMPLETELY agree. This issue doesn't even show as "in review" by the Viewpoint team yet. The American Contractor reports were easy to read, easily customized and filtered, and had complete and concise results. Why hasn't ProContractor adopted more of the American Contractor's functions? Moving from AC to PC has proven to be an incredible frustrating experience. I may not be a programmer, but simple functions such as practical report views, drill down reporting, and emailing functions are a STANDARD in software like this and should have been implemented prior to launching.

Jim,  You couldn't have said it better.

Just recently I ran the Payroll Hours and Earnings report, to complete a report I was working on.  Talk about frustrating.  This report needs to print in date order, By that I mean I ran a report that spanned two years.  It printed the current year, then the previous year, bonuses etc were out of date order,  This is totally stupid.  If they modeled PCMX using the best of Management Suite and American Contractor then why would they miss something this simple.

It seems to be a case of the programmers wrote the reports based on what was easiest for them, not us the end users.  The reports are way to long, not in columns that you can easily import into excel and manipulate and forget about trying to modify yourself.   Therefore, if you manage to export to excel you spend three times as long as it should take just to get a report that may or may not have everything you need in it.

I am beyond frustrated with this software.

Every time I call support to see if something is available in a report, the standard response seems to be "I'm sorry you can't get that information in that report or that doesn't exist".

Cindy Whittaker and her team need to READ and COMPREHEND that we are totally frustrated with this software and lack of speed in responding to our request for enhancements that should have been in the original program to begin with.

In addition, next the planned comment it would be nice to have some idea of how much longer we have to wait for this stuff.

Agreed 200% on wasted space and that they should have "Program Wide" category.

This issue is pervasive with the majority of reports. Even the journal transaction reports to be printed before you post something is usually 3 pages even for 1 transaction!

The job cost reports that show labor costs use a whole row just for the overhead allocated cost instead of haveing a column for it. This makes the job cost detail report so much larger in total page size just because of the way it was designed.

Learning how to edit these reports is way too complicated for the average user. Trying to add or change the was a report subtotals is impossible for even a power user.

Someone or some team that is very familiar with job costing reports should be looking at these reports to help us. It won't do much good to have those that wrote the reports try to make them better. It will take a new perspective and approach based on what we were used to in American Contractor and Management Suite.

This is not complicated to do it just takes time. Once reports are more useful and streamlined, they won't have to go back and will have many more happy users.
